Pakistan and Indonesia on Monday reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in the domains of professional training, defence collaboration and joint exercises, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the military’s media wing, the resolve came during a meeting between Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Indonesia's Naval chief, Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
CDF Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding ties with Indonesia, particularly in defence and security, the ISPR added.
Admiral Ali appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and stability.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed, said ISPR.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the existing military-to-military relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
Separately, Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad Al Hajjar, called on the field marshal at the GHQ, Rawalpindi, during his two-day visit to Pakistan, said the military’s media wing.
During the meeting, both dignitaries exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for further enhancing bilateral relations in security domain, said the ISPR.
“The importance of strengthening institutional linkages and fostering greater cooperation between the two countries’ security institutions was also emphasized,” it added.
The CDF reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Lebanon and expressed the desire to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s contributions towards regional peace and stability and acknowledged the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.
